Cultural Resistance International Film Festival of Lebanon, Beirut, 9-10 November 2015. Samhita Sunya is Asstistant Professor of Visual Culture at the American University of Beirut. Her research and teaching interests include world film history; Asian cinemas; intersections of (old and new) audio-visual media and literature; sound studies; and postcolonial literature. She brings additional experience in the collaborative administration and programming of film series and festivals, and she champions curatorial projects as being invaluable to both pedagogy and scholarship. Current and planned publications include essays that build on her research at Rice University and at the National Film Archive of India, exploring the transnational circuits and histories of romantic Hindi film/songs.
