Jonathan Wyrtzen is Associate Professor of Sociology, International Affairs, and History at Yale University. His research interests focus on the effects of empire and colonialism, state and non-state forms of political organization, and collective identity formation in North Africa and the Middle East. He is author of Making Morocco: Colonial Intervention and the Politics of Identity (Cornell 2015).
