Bio

 

 

 

Toufoul Abou-Hodeib is Associate Professor of History at the University of Oslo. She earned a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Oslo and the “Europe in the Middle East-The Middle East in Europe” research program at the Wissenschaftskolleg in Berlin. She was also lecturer in modern Middle East History at the University of Oxford. Her research and writing focus on social history, material culture, and the relationship between history and memory in the modern Levant, and her work has appeared in the International Journal of Middle East Studies, History Compass, and the International Journal of Maritime History.
