The founding editor of KurdishQuestion.Com, a beloved British-Kurdish activist and filmmaker Mehmet Aksoy was killed by ISIS in Raqqa while he was shooting a documentary on the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). Bio

 

Mehmet Aksoy was founder and editor-in-chief of the website KurdishQuestion.com. He received an MA in Filmmaking from Goldsmiths University. He made several short films, published short stories, and translated a collection of poetry. He also wrote and lectured extensively on the Kurdish question. While residing in Rojava Kurdistan-Northern Syria and working as a press officer for the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), he was killed in an ambush by ISIS forces on 26 September 2017.
