Live Twitter Feed Event: The Goldstone Report and International Law Debate at Stanford
[Image from event announcement]
As tensions between Israel and Hamas build in the wake of Israeli airstrikes on Gaza this week that killed eight and renewed rocket fire, the Goldstone Report, the landmark investigation into war crimes during Operation Cast Lead in 2008-09, remains the subject of significant discussion and controversy. Although the report documents extensive crimes against humanity committed by both Israel and Hamas, the international community continues to debate how best to act on these significant findings.
On Monday evening, the Stanford International Law Society will host a debate on the legacy of the report and the larger application of international law to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict featuring Justice Richard Goldstone himself in one of his first public commentaries on the investigation. Other panelists include Noura Erakat, Jadaliyya co-editor and adjunct professor at Georgetown University, Victor Kattan, teaching fellow at SOAS, Peter Berkowitz, senior fellow at the Hoover Institute, and Abraham Bell, professor of law at the University of San Diego Law School.
The debate will be carried live through a Jadaliyya twitter feed from 7-9 PM PST (10 PM-12 AM EST). Join us for what should be a timely and lively discussion!
