The Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR) at the American University of Beirut is searching for a new director to begin September 1, 2015. CASAR is an interdisciplinary research and academic center that offers an undergraduate minor and a new MA in Transnational American Studies. CASAR hosts visiting lecturers and organizes an international, bi-annual conference. CASAR has a generous endowment from the Alwaleed Foundation and has a mission to increase understanding of America in the Arab world.
The new director should have an established record of academic excellence commensurate with the rank of Associate or Full professor. Preferred qualifications include: a history of engagement with the discipline of American Studies, experience with program development and academic administration, a teaching and research profile at the cutting edge of transnational American Studies. Degree field is open, although the successful candidate will need to be jointly appointed in a department within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
