2012 Retrospective: An Exhibition by Majd Al-Hamwi

"2012" is an exhibition for three collections of paintings that were created during 2012 in Syria: “Once Upon a Time,” “On Top of Torture,” and “Transformation."
The paintings are an attempt to monitor and bring out the harshness of a changing reality in Syria, played out during that short interval of the revolution’s timeframe. Distortions in people, cities, and even nature, are represented in distorted representations.
The paintings have recently arrived in Beirut from Syria, and thus now the first opportunity to exhibit them as a collection.
Majd Al-Hamwi graduated in 2012 from Department of Oil Painting, School of Fine Arts, Damascus University. He has participated in several collective exhibitions in Syria and Lebanon. He works in many artistic fields, such as music and video making. Al-Hamwi recently produced his first original album, Ya Lateef. The exhibition opened on September 12, 2016 in Mansion, Zokak el Blatt. The pieces are on display until the 17 September.Opening hours are form 4:00pm until 8:00pm; or by appointment.
