2017 INAUGURAL AGAPS BOOK AWARD
The Association for Gulf and Arabian Peninsula Studies (AGAPS) invites nominations for its inaugural 2017 Book Award. Nominations can be made either by the publisher or the author. The criteria for nominated books are as follows:

Books must be non-fiction scholarly monographs based on original research published in English between May 1, 2015 and April 30, 2017.

Subject matter must deal primarily with the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, inclusive of the transnational flow of people, material and ideas across the Gulf, Red Sea and/or Indian Ocean.

Works not eligible include edited collections and compilations, proceedings of symposia, new editions of previously published books, bibliographies, dictionaries, textbooks, and surveys.

Nominations must be made by May 15, 2017, with books delivered to committee readers by May 15, 2017, for books to be eligible for the competition. Emailed nominations are acceptable.
The author of the winning book will receive $500 and a certificate of award. Winners will be announced at the annual AGAPS business meeting at the 51st MESA Annual Meeting in Washington DC. As well, the results will be posted on AGAPS’s website (www.agaps.org) and published in the Journal of Arabian Studies.

Submit a letter of nomination (by May 15, 2017) and send one copy of the book (by May 15, 2017) to the Chair of the Book Award Committee. In the letter, for each book nominated, please include the full title, author’s full name, publisher, and publication date. Send to: Glenn E.
