عن الدين والطائفية في الرواية
١ المجتمع العراقي متنوع دينياً وإثنياً ولغوياً وبالتالي فالكتابة عن حقيقته وواقعه لا يمكن أن تقفز فوق كل هذه الاختلافات والتناقضات، أو تمحو الهامشي، إذا أرادت أن تنفذ إلى صميم هذا المجتمع وحيواته وأفراده، وإلا خسرت الكثير. لكن الكاتب يكون في كثير من الأحيان تحت وطأة أيديولوجية ما تتحكم بالكتابة فتصور مجتمعاً نمطياً مؤمثلاً يمحو ما يجب محوه لكي “تستقيم” الصورة. وتراوغ وتحاذر كي لا تتعامل مع هذا التنوع الذي قد يكون إشكالياً، خصوصاً عندما تترجمه الخطابات السياسية والصراعات إلى عملة رابحة أو خاسرة. والرقابة الشرسة والإطار الذي رسخه النظام في ما عرف بـ “أدب الحرب” معروف ولا داعي لأن نخوض فيه لكن يجب أن نتذكر أنه رسم خارطة وخطوطاً حمراء لما يمكن الكتابة عنه أو حتى تخيله! ...

It is well known that preeminent figures of early modernism, such as Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright, designed architectural proposals for Baghdad around the middle of the 20th century. Many may be surprised however to discover that several other important international architects were also involved with the city at one point or another in its recent history, hoping to erect some remarkable structures that would have transformed Baghdad beyond recognition. ازدادت في الآونة الأخيرة ظاهرة إرغام الفتيات على الزواج بسن مبكِّرة، وأخذت منحى جديداً من حيث الأسباب وصيغ الإرغام. فمنذ تأسيس الدولة العراقية عام 1921 وحتى بداية السبعينيات، كانت الفتاة عرضة للزواج من رجل غريب أو من المقربين للعائلة، لأن ولي أمرها ارتأى أن يمنحها لهذا الرجل كأي سلعة تُهدى، من دون أن يكون لها حق الاعتراض أو مجرد إبداء الرأي. كما أنها كانت تمنح لرجل من قبيلة أخرى كجزء من «دية» تتَّفق عليها العشيرتان لحلِّ خلافاتٍ ناشبة بينهما، وتسمَّى «فَصْليَّة». والفتاتان، المهداة والفَصْليَّة، ليس لهما حقّ المطالبة بالتفريق أو الطلاق، لأنَّهما مجرَّدتان من حقوقهما وفقاً للأعراف العشائريَّة. ولذلك فإنَّ «الحوليَّة الديموغرافيَّة» التي تصدرها الأمم المتَّحدة نشرت عام ...
