بمناسبة الذكرى الثلاثون لمجزرة صبرا وشاتيلا، سأستعرض في هذا المقال فيلمين وثائقيين غير اعتياديين حول هذه المجزرة البشعة، والتي نُفذت على مدى ثلاثة أيام ( من الخميس 16 أيلول1982 وحتى السبت 18 ايلول). الفيلم الأول بعنوان "مجزرة" إخراج الألمانية مونيكا بورغمان ولقمان سليم وهيرمان ثايسن ( 99 دقيقة.إنتاج ألماني/ لبناني . 2005) وهو فيلم لم يحظ بالاهتمام الذي يستحقه، أما الفيلم الثاني فهو "رقصة فالس مع بشير" للإسرائيلي آري فولمان ( 90 دقيقة. إنتاج إسرائيلي/غربي .2008 ) وهو فيلم رسوم متحركة يُختتم بصور حقيقة لضحايا المجزرة، والذي حظي لأسباب سيستخلصها القارئ لاحقاً بتغطية غربية واسعة واهتمام بالغ وإيجابي من قبل النقاد السينمائيين. ...

The following interview was conducted with Omar Dahi, a Syrian professor of economics at Hampshire College on August 14th, 2012 regarding the economic consequences of the uprising in Syria, especially in terms of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon. The escalating conflict in Syria has magnified the refugee crisis, both internally and in neighboring countries. More than 4,000 people entered Turkey in recent days, bringing the total number of Syrian refugees there close to 60,000. Planeloads of South Sudanese refugees from Israel have been landing in South Sudan’s capital of Juba over the past few weeks. Many of them had been living in the poor neighborhoods of Hatikva and Shapira in southern Tel Aviv, working in such jobs as hotel chambermaids or waiters. Israel has justified the deportations with the explanation that because South Sudan seceded from Sudan in July 2011, the refugees can now return to their home country without fear. Their calls deliberately disregard ongoing violence between Sudan and South Sudan as well as aggression between rival South Sudanese groups. The following is the translated transcription of a Skype interview that was conducted on Friday 22 June 2012. It features Lebanese activist Ghassan Makarem. The interview explores the particular events that transpired last week in the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared, locating them within the broader political and historical context of Lebanon. As a person who grew up in a diasporic Palestinian family, there have always been symbols around me that reminded me of Palestine. My grandparents’ homes are adorned with them; from framed pictures of gateways in Jerusalem’s Old City, to mini sculptures of the Dome of the Rock mosque, they are all remnants of their memory of an occupied homeland. The following is a video of a lecture given by Judith Butler, entitled "Boycott Politics and Global Responsability," wherein she discusses the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement in solidarity with the Palestinian people. The lecture was given at Tufts University and co-sponsored by the school's Antrhopology, Sociology, English, and Peace and Justice Studies departments.
