[The following report was originally published in French on Mamfakinch on 2 September 2012. It was subsequently translated into English. Omar Brouksy, a Moroccan journalist with the Agence France Presse (AFP), was covering a protest in Rabat, Morocco when he was beaten and harassed by police supressing the protest. Dozens of Moroccans gathered in front of the parliament building to denounce the annual "king loyalty ritual." The demonstration coincided with the annual ceremony, which occured a few days before. The ceremony lasts hours and includes numerous government officials pledging their allegiance to the king through bows and praises.
