في تاريخ ١٠ أبريل ٢٠١٢، حكمت المحكمة الجزائية المتخصصة في جلسة سرية على محمد صالح البجادي (بعد منع محاميه من حضور الجلسة) بالسجن ٤ سنوات تليها ٥ سنوات منع من السفر. بعدها بيوم واحد فقط حكمت المحكمة نفسها على الدكتور يوسف الأحمد، وهو دكتور في الفقه الإسلامي في كلية الشريعة بالرياض بجامعة الإمام محمد بن سعود الإسلامية، بالسجن ٥ سنوات، تليها ٥ سنوات منع من السفر. تمثل الأحكام التي صدرت على الناشطين السياسيين تحولاً في التعامل القانوني مع سجناء الرأي في السعودية. تثير هذه المحاكمات نقطتين أساسيتين: أولاً ظاهرة انتشار استخدام منع السفر كنوع من العقاب. ثانياً محاكمة النشطاء السياسيين في محكمة أسست لمحاكمة متهمي الإرهاب والقضايا الأمنية. كانت وزارة الداخلية المؤسسة الوحيدة التي ...

The migration of Keralites to the Arab Gulf region has generated various forms of translocal political moorings in the host countries. They are translocal in the sense that they are impacted by even the minutest currents within the political intricacies and specificities of Kerala politics, yet are increasingly identified and consumed by the migrants from Kerala—popularly known as Malayalees—in the Gulf. This article elucidates the ways in which Kerala politics, as a “translocal” entity, are being perceived and produced by expatriate Malayalees and their organizations within the political constraints of the Gulf monarchies. In a secret session on 10 April 2012, the Specialized Criminal Court in Riyadh sentenced Mohammed Saleh Al-Bajady, who was denied legal representation, to four years in prison followed by a five-year travel ban. A day later, the same court sentenced Dr. Yousif Al Ahmad, dean of the law faculty of Imam Mohamed Bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh, to five years in prison, a five-year travel ban, and a 27,500-dollar fine.
