Salih Can Açıksöz
Salih Can Açıksöz is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at UCLA. He previously taught Middle Eastern Studies at the College of William and Mary and the University of Arizona. His first book, Sacrificial Limbs: Masculinity, Disability, and Political Violence in Turkey, was published by the University of California Press in 2019. He has written on war trauma, humanitarianism, new reproductive technologies, police violence, and gender politics in an age of the ascendancy of right-wing populism. His work has appeared in journals including Current Anthropology, Medical Anthropology Quarterly, Culture, Medicine, and Psychiatry, the Journal of Middle East Women's Studies, and the Journal of Turkish and Ottoman Studies.
