Utku Balaban

Utku Balaban is visiting associate professor of sociology at Amherst College. He received his PhD in Sociology from SUNY Binghamton and was on the faculty of the Department of Labor Economics and Industrial Relations at Ankara University before being purged from his position for political reasons by the Turkish government during a state of emergency. His current research focuses on the relationship between Islamism and late industrial development in Turkey.
