Mohammed Akounad محمد أكوناض

Mohammed Agounad was born in the region of Tmanar in Essaouira, Morocco. After memorizing the Quran, he joined the Islamic Institute in Tmanar, then in Taroudant, where he completed his high school education. Agounad became a teacher in 1971, but he continued his studies, earning a BA in Arabic Literature in 1985 from Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakesh. He was an activist in Amazigh cultural associations, such as the Agadir Summer University Association, TAMAYNUT, and Tirra. He has published three novels between 2002 and 2012. His novels are entitled Tawargit d imik (A Dream and Some More), Ijddign n tidi (The Flowers of Sweat), and Tamurt n ilfawn (The Land of Wild Boars). He has authored several short story collections. Agounad is also a translator of world literature into Amazigh.
