Umut Yıldırım is currently based at UCLA, the Center for Near Eastern Studies, where she’s writing her first book manuscript on “Low Intensities: Politics of Displacement and Refusal in a Middle Eastern City.” Prior to UCLA CNES, she was an Einstein Guest Researcher at the Institute for Social and Cultural Anthropology at FU Berlin, a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Cultural Inquiry, ICI Berlin, and held lecturing appointments in Social Anthropology at Bilgi, Boğaziçi, and Sabancı Universities, Istanbul. Her work has appeared in Anthropological Theory, Cultural Anthropology, Current Anthropology, and autonomous platforms.
