“Inside the Leviathan” invokes a metaphor drawn from the prophetic tradition and mobilized in modern political theory. It relates to the story of the prophet Jonah (Younis/Younan), who was swallowed by a sea monster commonly rendered as a “leviathan.”
Yara Sa’di-Ibraheem and Khaled Jamal Furani
Yara Sa’di-Ibraheem is a postdoctoral fellow at the Polonsky Academy, Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. She holds a PhD in Human Geography. Her research fields include indigenous geographies and time, neoliberal planning, and infrastructure development in colonial settings.
Khaled Jamal Furani is a Professor of Anthropology at Tel-Aviv University and a senior fellow at Van Leer Jerusalem Institute. He serves on the Executive Board of Insaniyyat—Society of Palestinian Anthropologists. He researches and teaches in the areas of language, literature, secularism, the history of anthropology, theology, sovereignty, and Palestine.
