Sofia Rehman

Dr Sofia Rehman, PhD, is a scholar specializing in Islamic theology, with a focus on classical hadith, gender, and disability theology. She is known for amplifying marginalized voices and advocating for inclusive, equitable interpretations of Islamic teachings through an expansion of the tradition.

 

She is the author of A Treasury of Aisha bint Abu Bakr (Kube Publishing) and Gendering the Hadith: Recentering the Authority of Aisha, Mother of the Believers (Oxford University Press). She has also contributed to Mapping Faith: Theologies of Migration edited by Lia Shimada, Cut From the Same Cloth?, edited by Sabeena Akhtar, Violent Phenomena: 21 Essays on Translation (Tilted Axis), and Gathering: Women of Colour on Nature (404Ink).

 

Currently, her work also explores autism theology, examining how autistic experiences can shape theological understandings of God and promote inclusivity in the Muslim community.
