Denis Bocquet

Denis Bocquet is professor of urban history and theory at the Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture de Strasbourg, AMUP research unit. His research focuses on the ideological dimension of infrastructures, and on the roots of urbanity in cities of Europe, the Mediterranean region, and Southeast Asia. He is also the founder (with Nora Lafi) and editor of the H-Mediterranean internet service (H-Net, Michigan State University). Among his recent publications on Mediterranean cities are "Challenges to Urbanity in Contemporary Mediterranean Metropolises: New Urban Forms, Dynamics, Boundaries and Tensions” in New Geographies 5: The Mediterranean, edited by Antonio Petrov, (Harvard University Graduate School of Design, 2013), and Rome, ville technique (2007, free online), which presents a micro-history of decision-making processes in nineteenth-century Rome.
