Sheila Carapico, editor, Arabia Incognita: Dispatches from Yemen and the Gulf. Charlottesville: Just World Books, 2015.
Jadaliyya (J): What made you write this book?
Sheila Carapico is a contributing editor of Middle East Report and the author of two books, Political Aid and Arab Activism: Democracy Promotion, Justice, and Representation (Cambridge University Press, London: 2013), which is about all the Arab republics; and Civil Society in Yemen: The Political Economy of Activism in Modern Arabia (Cambridge University Press, London: 1998). She teaches political science and international studies at the University of Richmond, and does whatever she can to raise awareness about American complicity in the unprovoked, destructive war waged by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia against its now ravaged neighbor.
