Amal Ghazal

Amal Ghazal is Associate Professor of History at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada. She is the author of Islamic Reform and Arab Nationalism:  Expanding the Crescent from the Mediterranean to the Indian Ocean (1880s-1930s) (Routledge, 2010), and of articles and book chapters in International Journal of Middle East Studies, The Bulletin for the Royal Institute of Inter-Faith Studies, MIT-Electronic Journal of Middle East Studies, Archivum Ottomanicum, Past Imperfect, and the volume Islam, Slavery and Diaspora. Her teaching and research interests include Ottoman history, Modern Middle East, North Africa, and Islam in Saharan and sub-Saharan Africa.
