Thank you for your interest in Jadaliyya. We welcome all submissions. The most significant requirement is for Jadaliyya submissions to be analytically compelling and offer a perspective or argument that has not been covered at length either on Jadaliyya or elsewhere. Because of the volume of submissions, well-written pieces are prioritized. Length is flexible, 1000 to 2500 words is the average range. However, we will accept longer pieces. Once submitted, several members of the editorial committee will review your piece and one of them will inform you of the decision.

John Tofik Karam is an associate professor of Latin American and Latino Studies at DePaul University. His research and teaching interests include ethnicity, nationalism, globalization, Brazil, and what he calls "the Arab Americas." His book Another Arabesque: Syrian-Lebanese Ethnicity in Neoliberal Brazil (Temple, 2007) won the 2007 Arab American National Museum Book Award in the non-fiction category as well as the 2008 Brazilian Studies Association`s Roberto Reis Award. His articles have appeared in PoLAR: Political and Legal Anthropology Review, The Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology, as well as the edited volume of Arabs in the Americas. Currently, he is carrying out research on cross-border mobilizations organized or supported by Arab immigrants and their descendants in the neighboring cities of Foz do Iguaçu and Ciudad del Este along the tri-national border between Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina.
