Robin D. G. Kelley is Distinguished Professor of History and Gary B. Nash Endowed Chair in US History at the University of California at Los Angeles. His books include Africa Speaks, America Answers: Modern Jazz in Revolutionary Times (Harvard University Press, 2012) and Freedom Dreams: The Black Radical Imagination (Beacon Press, 2002).   His essays have appeared in Mondoweiss, The Nation, Electronic Intifada, Counterpunch, Black Renaissance/Renaissance Noir, Boston Review, Souls, New York Times, to name a few.
