Mark Fathi Massoud is a professor of politics and the director of the Legal Studies Program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, and a visiting professor at the University of Oxford. His book, Shari‘a, Inshallah: Finding God in Somali Legal Politics was a PROSE Award Finalist for the best book in government and politics published in 2021. His book, Law’s Fragile State: Colonial, Authoritarian, and Humanitarian Legacies in Sudan, earned the Law and Society Association Herbert Jacob Prize for the best book in law and society, and an Honorable Mention for the American Political Science Association C.
