New Article Submission

Thank you for your interest in Jadaliyya. We welcome all submissions. The most significant requirement is for Jadaliyya submissions to be analytically compelling and offer a perspective or argument that has not been covered at length either on Jadaliyya or elsewhere. Because of the volume of submissions, well-written pieces are prioritized. Length is flexible, 1000 to 2500 words is the average range. However, we will accept longer pieces. Once submitted, several members of the editorial committee will review your piece and one of them will inform you of the decision.

Mayanthi Fernando and Maya Mikdashi

 

Mayanthi L. Fernando is Assistant Professor of Anthropology at the University of California, Santa Cruz. She is primarily interested in the intersection of religion, politics, sexuality, and secularity. Her first book, The Republic Unsettled: Islam, Secularism, and the Future of France will be out in 2014 with Duke University Press. She has recently begun a second project that examines the nexus of sex, religion, and secularism, and in particular the French state`s regulation of Muslim women`s sexual and religious intimacies. 

 

Maya Mikdashi is a socio cultural anthropologist whose work studies the intersections and impasses between secularism(s), sectarianism, religion and practices of gendered citizenship in contemporary Lebanon.  Maya is currently a Faculty Fellow and Director of Graduate Studies at the NYU Kevorkian Center for Near Eastern Studies. She is Co-Director of the documentary film About Baghdad and Co-Founder/Editor of Jadaliyya Ezine.
