Lana Salman is a PhD candidate in City and Regional at the University of California, Berkley. She has been living in Tunisia since August 2016 completing her dissertation fieldwork. Her research is an ethnography of new experiences of the state emerging out of everyday claims-making around land between citizens and municipal officials and bureaucrats. Her interests span urban studies, development studies and political theory.
