Robert Vitalis

Robert Vitalis, a one-time MERIP editor and original advisory board member of the Arab Studies Journal, received his PhD in political science from MIT in 1988. He teaches at the University of Pennsylvania where he directed the Middle East Center between 1999-2006. He is the author of America’s Kingdom: Mythmaking on the Saudi Oil Frontier (Stanford, 2007), White World Order, Black Power Politics: The Birth of American International Relations (Cornell, 2015), and most recently Oilcraft: The Myths of Scarcity and Security That Haunt U.S. Energy Policy (Stanford, 2020).
