Rosemary Sayigh روزماري صايغ

Rosemary Sayigh was born in 1927 and finished school just as World War II ended. She went to Oxford on a scholarship. Unable to find a job on graduation, she followed a childhood friend, Desmond Stewart, to Baghdad where she worked as a lecturer at Queen Aliya College for Girls for two years. In 1953, Rosemary married Palestinian economist Yusif Sayigh and went to live and work in Beirut. In 1975, she did a second MA at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and in 1990 completed a PhD at the University of Hull, UK. She later returned to the Middle East to teach at Birzeit and AUB.
