Mohamed Elgohari محمد الجوهري

Mohamed Elgohari is a political researcher based in New York with varied experience on Arab and Middle Eastern Affairs. He is a recipient of the prestigious Ford Foundation International Fellowship, which provided him with a full scholarship to complete his MA at New York University in Comparative Politics. Elgohari’s Master’s thesis analyzes the political role of the Egyptian Ultras groups by examining the contentious relationship between the state and society by focusing on the post-revolutionary politicization of these groups. He recently presented this research at the Research Center in Egypt and the Arab-Turkish Congress of Social Sciences. Prior to this, he worked as a researcher in Cairo for a number of academic institutions. His articles are being published in many media outlets including Jadaliyya, World Politics Magazine, and World Press. Elgohari’s research focus is on democratization, state-society relationships, and the political role of social and grassroots movements within the Middle East. He can be reached at: mohamed.algohri@gmail.com
