Still calling for govt of `national salvation,` parties and movements transfer ongoing sit-in to Egypt`s nearby Cabinet building.
A group of political parties and movements declared in a statement on Wednesday that their ongoing sit-in in Cairo’s Tahrir Square would be relocated to the nearby Cabinet building.
According to the statement, the decision was taken in order to focus efforts on the groups’ primary demand, namely, the replacement of the newly-appointed Cabinet of Kamel El-Ganzouri with a broad-based government of “national salvation” endowed with executive powers to administer Egypt’s current transitional period.
The statement also demanded that Egypt’s ruling Supreme Council of the Armed Forces relinquish all the political powers granted to it by a March constitutional declaration.
Eleven movements have signed on to the statement, including the April 6 youth movement (Democratic Front); the Egyptian Current party; the Democratic Front Party; and the Revolutionary Youth Coalition.
The April 6 movement’s Ahmed Maher Front, meanwhile, had already announced its decision to transfer its ongoing sit-in from Tahrir Square to nearby Kasr El-Aini Street, where the Cabinet building is located, to register its opposition to the El-Ganzouri government.
