The following video features the proceedings of a panel discussion titled “Upheavals in the Arab World Two Years On,” that took place at the Law and Society Association Annual Meeting in Boston on 1 June 2013. Organized and chaired by Lisa Hajjar, the panel assesses the impact of movements advocating social and political change in Egypt, Yemen, and Bahrain two years following the outbreak of uprisings throughout the Arab world. Panelists consider how notions of justice and rights have had a galvanizing effect on getting people into the streets, how the various regimes (and regional allies) have responded to their demands, and if there has been a reapportionment of power and privilege.
