Cairo Berlin Exhibition
A flat in Garden City, Cairo
In an exhibition sponsored by the German Embassy in Egypt, artist Daniel Rode invited three artists from Berlin and three from Cairo to present their work as part of a collaborative project that aims to highlight recent urban art, music, and film from Germany. At a pop-up exhibition space in Cairo’s Garden City, Taha Belal exhibits a series recreating images from local newspapers, English-born, Cairo-based artist Jenifer Evans presents a number of drawings and screen prints, and recognized street artist and graphic designer Ganzeer created a mural about the Egyptian revolution inspired by the Mazinger anime. Representing the German side of the project, Klaus Walter exhibits light boxes in which figures are shown undressing, Julian Faulhaber presents a selection of photographs shot in Berlin, video artist Sara Pfrommer is represented by two videos specifically produced for the exhibition, and Daniel Rode contributes a new neon-light installation.
