As part of a major new hiring initiative across multiple fields, the Watson Institute for International Studies and the Department of History at Brown University invite applicants for an open rank position for a historian of the modern Middle East during the long 20th century (from the late-19th century onwards). The appointment will begin on July 1, 2015, or as soon as possible thereafter. Ph.D. or equivalent is required by time of appointment.
Review of applications will begin October 20, 2014, but applications will be accepted until the position is filled. To assure full consideration applicants should submit their materials by that date.

- Short writing sample
- Teaching statement
Senior candidates should include the names of five references who will be contacted at the appropriate time by the search committee.
