Assistant Professor of American Studies
The Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR) at the American University of Beirut is seeking to appoint an Americanist from a social science or humanities discipline, starting August 15, 2017 at the rank of Assistant Professor. The hire will have joint appointment with CASAR and an appropriate department in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
We are particularly interested in a scholar whose research and interests engage the field of American Studies and can contribute to the center’s efforts to foster research and outreach. We hope to attract a candidate who can offer graduate courses in the MA program in Transnational American Studies as well as teach “Introduction to American Studies” and special topics courses in the Minor in American Studies.
Applicants must have completed their PhD by August 2017. The appointment is for an initial period of four years with opportunities for renewal and advancement. The usual teaching load is not more than 5 courses a year. The language of instruction is English.
