In this interview (above) that aired live on CBS News on 6 December 2017, Jadaliyya Co-Editor Noura Erakat responds to US President Donald Trump’s statement recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Taking note of the fact it has been one hundred years since the United Kingdom issued the Balfour Declaration, Erakat locates the recent decision in a longer trajectory of the persistent and systematic denial of the Palestinian population’s political rights. She also addresses the current status of the so-called peace process and the need for Palestinian leadership to abandon its reliance and dependence on the United States. Worth noting in this interview is the manner in which mainstream US media have adopted the Trump Administration’s talking points about the statement, and how Erakat challenges those talking points directly with explicit reference to Israel as a settler colonial state.

Thank you for your interest in Jadaliyya. We welcome all submissions.
The most significant requirement is for Jadaliyya submissions to be analytically compelling and offer a perspective or argument
that has not been covered at length either on Jadaliyya or elsewhere. Because of the volume of submissions, well-written pieces are prioritized.
Length is flexible, 1000 to 2500 words is the average range. However, we will accept longer pieces. Once submitted, several members of the
editorial committee will review your piece and one of them will inform you of the decision.
