Jadaliyya Co-Editor Ziad Abu-Rish speaks on Frank Barat's series, COVID-19 Chronicles, about the Lebanese government's response to the pandemic within the larger context of ongoing developments in the country. The interview was recorded on 11 July 2020.
The COVID-19 Chronicles is an interview series that collects testimonies and analyses in the time of the Coronavirus/COVID-19. It asks: what impact have the various measures put in place by governments on people and communities and how have they responded to it?
Ziad Abu-Rish is Co-Director of the MA Program in Human Rights and the Arts, and Visiting Associate Professor of Human Rights, at Bard College. He is also a 2020–21 Fellow in the Center for Contemporary Arab Studies at Georgetown University. His research explores state formation, economic development, and popular mobilizations in the Middle East, with a particular focus on Lebanon and Jordan. Abu-Rish serves as Co-Editor of Arab Studies Journal and Jadaliyya. He is also a Fellow at the Beirut-based Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS). He can be followed on Twitter via @ziadaburish.
