Status Associate Producer Paola Messina spoke to Lebanese/American filmmaker Jude Chehab about her experiences of the August 4th explosion in Beirut and subsequent protests in the city. In this interview, Jude spoke about how the Lebanese experiences of corruption both domestically and internationally led her and others to organize grassroots and transparent relief efforts in the greater Beirut area. Jude Chehab
Jude Chehab is a Lebanese/American filmmaker, whose early career work has landed awards, screening in film festivals worldwide. Her credits include collaborations with Refinery29, She Said Films, The Players Tribune, Oxfam GB, and Doctors Without Borders. She was part of Abbas Kiarostami’s last student group in Cuba, where she worked on a piece under his guidance. She was part of the North Star Residency at CIFF and is both a CAAM and NeXtDoc fellow.

Paola Cossermelli Messina is Associate Producer and Post-Production Manager of Status / الوضع Audio-Visual Magazine. As an audio producer and writer born in Brazil, her research interests fall at the intersections between music, culture and gender in the Middle East. She previously worked as a producer and reporter at a radio station in her home country.
