Security forces crack down on refugees protesting violence, harassment, Mada Masr (2 November 2020)
Sudanese refugees in Egypt protested in front of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees against state violence towards them especially after the killing of Mohamed Hassan, a 14 year old Sudanese refugee, on the 6th October. The police responded with more violence as they dispersed the protests and arrested several protesters.
UN raises alarm over Saudi activist Loujain al-Hathloul's health following hunger strike, Middle East Eye (5 November 2020)
Lujain Al-Hathloul is a Saudi woman who got arrested in May 2018 because of her activism against male guardianship and for women's right to drive. She started a hunger strike on 26 October to protest her long detention and restrictions put on her ability to contact her family. UN-CEDAW experts raised concerns over her health and called for her release.
Maher al-Akhras “prevails over jailer,” ends 103-day hunger strike, Electronic Intifada (6 November 2020)
Maher al-Akhras started a hunger strike to protest his detention without charge by Israel and only stopped striking after 103 days, when Israel agreed to release him on 26th November.
Sudan Witnesses Various Protests Over the Weekend, All Africa (9 November 2020)
Several protests took place across different areas in Sudan, including Port Sudan, Kordofan, Kassa, and Khartoum. People protested against a variety of issues, including increased electricity fees, fuel shortage, changing the status of refugees, and others.
Egyptian sets himself on fire in Tahrir Square to protest corruption, Middle East Eye (12 November 2020)
Mohamed Hosni is an Egyptian man who filmed himself and put it on social media as he talked about his deteriorating financial and living conditions as a result of trying to expose corruption in Egypt. Then, he set himself on fire in Tahrir square in protest. He was saved and rushed to the hospital before the blaze got too severe.
Tunisia: El Kamour protests resume after leader arrested, Middle East Monitor (18 November 2020)
Protests took place in Tataouine, Tunisia, in response to the arrest of Dhaou El-Ghoul, who is the general coordinator of El Kamour sit-in. His arrest was after the government signed an agreement with protesters in Tataouine who were part of a movement that lasted for about 4 years.
Hundreds of Iraq 'temporary' state employees protest delayed salaries, Middle East Monitor (18 November 2020)
Iraqis working temporarily in the Ministry of Electricity protested in Baghdad and demanded the government to pay their outstanding salaries. They protested in front of the Ministry of Finance headquarters and called on the Prime Minister to intervene.
Turkey: Sit-in protest against PKK enters day 445, Anadolu Agency (20 November 2020)
Families of people kidnapped by YPG/PKK participate in a sit-in protest. It started in September last year when 3 mothers said that their children were forcibly recruited by YPG/PKK.
Threat and arrest … Anti-government protests face “repression” in Syria’s As-Suwayda, Enab Baladi (20 November 2020)
People in Al-Suwayda, Syria, called for protests against deteriorating living conditions and extreme security measures. The state responded by threat of violence and arrests of some people who participated in previous protests.
Lebanon: Families of Beirut blast victims stage protest, Anadolu Agency (25 November 2020)
Families of victims of the 4th August Beirut port blast held a protest near the parliament due to the delay in investigations over what happened to their loved ones. They held the Lebanese political system responsible. They said that they believed in the Lebanese judiciary system, but they said that they would seek out international courts if the local courts didn't do them justice.

تم تداول أخبار على موقع التواصل الاجتماعي عن وجود تضييقات جديدة على المعتقلين السياسيين في مصر. ردًّا على ذلك، قام المغردون المصريون على تويتر بكتابة وسم #أنقذوا_المعتقلين، داعين فيه لإنقاذ المعتقلين من السجون والإفراج عنهم.

أهالي ضحايا تفجير مرفأ بيروت يقومون باعتصامات ووقفات احتجاجية للمطالبة بالعدالة ومحاسبة المسؤولين. وقد كانت إحدى وقفاتهم أمام مكان إقامة رئيس مجلس النواب نبيه بري، حيث التقوا به قبل اعتصامهم واستمع إلى مطالبهم. بعد انتهاء لقائهم ووقفتهم كتبوا بيانًا طالبوا فيه جميع اللبنانيين بمساندتهم والمشاركة معهم في تحركاتهم.

هناك إضرابات واحتجاجات من قبل جماعات مختلفة في تونس، مطالبين بحقهم في التنمية. وتأتي هذه الموجة الاحتجاجية بعد تجربة الكامور الناجحة في محافظة تطاوين حيث شهدت احتجاجات فرضت على الحكومة أن تمضى اتفاقا تنمويا معها.

أنهى ماهر الأخرس إضرابه بعد 103 يومًا احتجاجًا على اعتقاله الإداري، منتصرًا على الاحتلال الإسرائيلي الذي أُجبِر على الإفراج عنه. وقد خضع الأخرس إلى فحوصات شاملة بعد إنهائه للإضراب كما أنه يحتاج للمتابعة لفترة طويلة لكي يتعافى بشكل كامل.

طهران.. مظاهرة منددة باغتيال العالم النووي فخري زادة، وكالة الأناضول (28 نوفمبر 2020)
تظاهر 100 شخص أمام مبنى وزارة الخارجية في إيران منددين باغتيال العالم النووي الإيراني محسن فخري زاده بعد استهداف سيارة كانت تنقله في طهران. وقد طالب المتظاهرون الحكومة بالانسحاب من البروتوكول الإضافي لمعاهدة عدم انتشار الأسلحة النووية.

يعقد الكاتب مقارنة بين جنوب أفريقيا في صراعها التحرري، وبالتحديد، نيلسون مانديلا، وبين الشعب الصحراوي وصراعه التحرري من الاحتلال المغربي. ويبين الكاتب أن مانديلا تعرض للسجن بسبب نضاله ومقاومته لنظام الأبارتايد في جنوب أفريقيا، وحين دافع عن نفسه أمام القاضي وقرأ السطر الأخير الذي يعلن فيه استعداده للموت من أجل القيم والمبادئ التي كافح من أجلها. يتساءل الكاتب إن كان بإمكان الشعب الصحراوي قراءة سطرهم الأخير أيضا والتحرر بعد عقود طويلة من الظلم والاستبداد والاحتلال.
ثورة تشرين: مراجعات، ميغافون (12 نوفمبر 2020)
تناقش هذه المقالة ثورة تشرين في لبنان وتأثير الخطاب الليبرالي عليها وبالتحديد خطاب المجتمع المدني الذي ترافق مع تراجع الانتفاضة. وقد احتوى هذا للخطاب على مفاهيم عامة غير محددة كالعدالة والديمقراطية التي لا يمانع تبنيها الطبقة الحاكمة طالما لم يتم تحديد هذه المفاهيم في المخيلة الجماعية للشعب، مما يمنعها من القيام بأي تأثيرات فعلية ويبعدها عن جذريتها وسياقاتها التاريخية.

قام العراقيون بإعادة إحياء ثورة تشرين في العراق رغم القمع الذي واجهه المتظاهرون وانتشار وباء كوفيد 19 , وقد أدت الثورة إلى استقالة الحكومة السابقة وتشكيل حكومة مؤقتة لإجراء انتخابات مبكرة، لكن المتظاهرين يصرون على أن مطالبهم التي خرجوا من أجلها وقدموا الكثير من التضحيات من أجلها لم تتحقق بعد. ويرى المتظاهرون أنه من المهم أن يتم تأمين الانتخابات القادمة من تهديد السلاح المدعوم من الخارج من أجل تحقيق انتخابات آمنة وعادلة ونزيهة.

Filmmakers boycott Israel’s pinkwashing TLVFest, Electronic Intifada (14 November 2020)
Many filmmakers announced that they are boycotting TLVFest, which is an Israeli International LGBTQ film festival. This festival serves as a pinkwashing mechanism, aimed at a liberal western audience, to present Israel as accepting of LGBTQ people and to deflect criticism of its human rights violations and war crimes.
Arab authors boycott UAE book awards due to ties with Israel, Middle East Monitor (23 November 2020)
In August 2020, UAE announced that it is normalising relations with Israel. In response, some Arab authors announced that they are boycotting two UAE awards, the International Prize for Arabic Fiction (IPAF) and the Sheikh Zayed Book Award.
Egyptian artist Ramy Essam's new song inspired by poet jailed for 1,000 days, Middle East Monitor (27 November 2020)
Poet Galal El-Behairy is an Egyptian poet who was sentenced in 2018 to 3 years in prison for writing a poetry book. Ramy Essam, an Egyptian musician, released a new song to mark 1000 days since El-Behairy was imprisoned.
