The Middle East Studies Pedagogy Initiative (MESPI) is seeking contributors for a roundtable on “Precarity and Pedagogy” to be published in the 2020 Pedagogy Issue of JadMag (Fall 2020). Contributions will address a common set of questions related to the intersections between pedagogy and precarity (whether that of course instructor or the students) and reflect on how such intersection affect the experience of the course for teachers and/or students. The annual Pedagogy JadMag includes a variety of articles on strategies for teaching on and about the Middle East, roundtables and interviews wherein scholars reflect on their approaches to and experiences with teaching the region, and a curated collection of the recent and relevant MESPI resources, including Essential Readings, Engaging Books, NEWTONs, and Peer-Reviewed Articles Review (PRAR) Bouquets. If you are interested in being one of the roundtable contributors, please contact MESPI’s managing editor at mekarem@mespi.org. We will then be in touch about next steps.
We appreciate sharing this call widely, and encourage others to contact MESPI if you believe they would be interested in participating.
