I have long had an interest in how police forces come to be—who designs them, why they are created, how their priorities are established, and especially how they come to be seen as a normalized part of government.
Jesse S. G. Wozniak
Jesse S.G. Wozniak is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at West Virginia University. His research centers primarily on policing and social control, with an emphasis on how state power intersects with neoliberalism and neoimperialism. His work has appeared in such journals as The British Journal of Criminology, Punishment and Society, Social Science Quarterly, and The Journal of Peace Research. He also serves as a member of the leadership team of the Alliance for Police Accountability, a Pittsburgh(PA)-based police reform organization.
