From the earliest stages of conceptualizing the research project that eventually became Argentina in the Global Middle East, I knew that I wanted to do work that would take me to a diverse array of Argentine geographies.
Lily Pearl Balloffet
Lily Pearl Balloffet is a scholar of migration, mobility, and inter-American relations in historical context. She is the author of Argentina in the Global Middle East (Stanford University Press, 2020), as well as several articles that propose transregional histories of Latin America and the Arabic-speaking Eastern Mediterranean. Her current book project bridges environmental, medical, and labor histories of moving people and animals. Dr Balloffet is an Associate Professor of Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she teaches courses on global migration, inter-American relations, social revolutions, and Latin American hip hop.
