Derya Bayir is author of the book Minorities and Nationalism in Turkish Law (Ashgate, 2013). Her interests include international human rights and minority rights, law and religion, the Turkish legal system, and Ottoman pluralism. She obtained her doctorate from the Law Department at Queen Mary, University of London, and her thesis was awarded a prize by the Contemporary Turkish Studies Chair at the London School of Economics. She has litigated many cases before the European Court of Human Rights, including the prominent case of Güveç v. Turkey. She is research associate at GLOCUL: The Centre for Culture and Law at Queen Mary.
