Sheida Dayani is a PhD candidate at NYU Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies, where she researches modern Iranian theatre of nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Sheida received her high school diploma in Iran, her bachelor’s degree in English Literature at NYU, and two years of graduate studies in History at CUNY Graduate Center. She has been an adjunct Professor of Persian at Hunter College Department of Classics.
Sheida’s Persian poetry and translations have been published in anthologies and literary journals of Iran and the diaspora, namely Bukhara and Negah-e No. As a simultaneous translator, she has interpreted at numerous distinguished occasions, including NBC Nightly News for Brian Williams (2006), and the 83rd Academy Awards for the Oscar-winner director, Asghar Farhadi (2012).
