Lucas Oesch

 

Lucas Oesch is visiting research fellow in Geography at the School of Environment, Education and Development, at the University of Manchester, and a postdoctoral fellow of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). He holds a Ph.D. from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) of Geneva. His research and publications focus on forced migration and urban space. He is currently working on the governance of refugee camp spaces, and informal settlements, as well as on issues of mobility in, and between cities in time of crisis in the Middle East. His recent publications include: “The Urban Planning Strategy in Al-Hussein Palestinian Refugee Camp in Amman: Heterogeneous Practices, Homogeneous Landscape”, in UNRWA and Palestinian Refugees: From Relief and Works to Human Development (Routledge, 2014).
