Brannon Ingram
Brannon Ingram is an Assistant Professor of Religious Studies at Northwestern University. He has a BA from Reed College, an MA in Islamic Studies from Leiden University, and a PhD in Religious Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He works on Islam in South Asia and South Africa, with a particular interest in how Muslims have debated Sufism, Islamic law, and politics in the modern era. Ingram's research and teaching have been supported by grants from ACLS, the SSRC, and the Mellon Foundation. He regularly teaches courses on The Qur’an, Sufism, Islamic Law, Islamophobia, and on Theory and Method in Religious Studies. In 2018, Ingram received the Distinguished Teaching Award, given to three Northwestern faculty each year. At Northwestern, he is a core faculty member in the Middle East and North African (MENA) Studies program.
