To put it in very simple terms, I wanted to make room in the Palestinian story for people like myself. I am definitively Palestinian in the sense that both of my parents come from the Galilean Palestinian village of Tarshiha—now part of Israel.

Maurice Ebileeni is a lecturer in the English Department at the University of Haifa. He is the author of Conrad, Faulkner, and the Problem of Nonsense (2015) and Being There, Being Here: Palestinian Writings in the World(2022), and his work on Palestinian literature and culture has appeared in Comparative Literature, the Journal of Post-Colonial Writing, Interventions: International Journal of Postcolonial Studies, and the Hebrew-language Ot.
