Gary Wilder

 

Gary Wilder is a professor in the PhD programs in anthropology, history, and French and the Director of the Committee on Globalization and Social Change at the CUNY Graduate Center. He is the author of The French Imperial Nation-State: Negritude and Colonial Humanism between the Two World Wars (Chicago, 1995) and Freedom Time: Negritude, Decolonization, and the Future of the World (Duke, 2015). His research on the French empire, French West Africa, and the Francophone Caribbean is located at the intersection of historical anthropology, intellectual history, and critical social theory.
