Anthony Alessandrini and the Middle East Studies Pedagogy Initiative (MESPI)

Anthony Alessandrini is a Professor of English at Kingsborough Community College and the MA Program in Middle Eastern Studies at The Graduate Center of The City University of New York, where he is also a member of the Committee on Globalization and Social Change. He is the author of Frantz Fanon and the Future of Cultural Politics: Finding Something Different (Lexington, 2014); the editor of Frantz Fanon: Critical Perspectives; and the co-editor of the JadMag special issue "Resistance Everywhere": The Gezi Protests and Dissident Visions of Turkey. Recent articles have appeared in Foucault StudiesJournal of French and Francophone PhilosophyReconstruction, and Social Text: Periscope. He is a member of the faculty of the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research. He is a Co-Editor of Jadaliyya E-Zine and co-edits the Reviews Page, the NEWTON Page, and the Turkey Page.


MESPI is a curated interactive platform for ME studies resources specifically tailored for the needs of teachers, researchers, and students. It will be the one-stop shop for course design on the macro level, lesson planning on the micro level, and for scholarship vis-a-vis specific topics, countries, and disciplines.
