Mouin Rabbani interviews Hamid Khalafallah and Kholood Khair

On Monday, 22 May Hamid Khalafallah and Kholoud Khair joined Jadaliyya co-editor Mouin Rabbani for a conversation about the ongoing civil war in Sudan. This episode of Connections examines the current situation in Sudan, the impact of the conflict upon ordinary citizens, and prospects for a transition from military to civilian rule.

Hamid Khalafallah is a development practitioner, researcher and policy analyst. He currently works as a Programme Officer for the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) in Sudan. He is also a non-resident fellow with the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP), and is an active member of Sudanese civil society, working with various youth civil resistance groups, promoting democracy and advocating for human rights.

Kholood Khair is the founding director of Confluence Advisory, a think and do tank in Khartoum that works on policy research. She also hosts and co-produces Spotlight 249, Sudan's first English language political discussion and debate show aimed at young Sudanese. She has over a decade's experience in research, aid programming and policy in Sudan and across the Horn of Africa.

Mouin Rabbani has published and commented widely on Palestinian affairs, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and the contemporary Middle East. He was previously Senior Analyst Middle East and Special Advisor on Israel-Palestine with the International Crisis Group, and head of political affairs with the Office of the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria. He is Co-Editor of Jadaliyya Ezine.
